TONNELLERIE D’AQUITAINE
TWO EXPERTISES, ONE HARMONY
In the workshop, the cooper crafts barrels by selecting wood, each characteristic of which brings a different nuance. For their part, the winemaker orchestrates the balance between terroirs, grape varieties and climatic conditions to create his own signature.
In their hands, the aging process becomes a true work of interpretation.
To contribute precisely to the creation of these wines, Tonnellerie d’Aquitaine develops barrels designed as unique pieces: high-end casks, produced in small batches, conceived to reveal the character and depth of the wines they accompany.
OUR BARRELS
Our cooperage is located in the heart of the vineyards of Southern France. Perpetuating a strong tradition and values while adapting to new markets has been the challenge for the generations who have succeeded each other at Tonnellerie d’Aquitaine since 1860.
Our stringent requirements for the quality of raw materials sourced from tall French forests, continuous control of all manufacturing stages, and custom toasting precisely adapted to our clients' needs allow us to constantly evolve in our pursuit of the perfect match between barrel and wine.
OUR WOOD
Tonnellerie d’Aquitaine selects its wood from the finest French forested mountains, renowned for the fineness and density of their grain.
To guarantee optimal quality, Tonnellerie d’Aquitaine internally manages the natural drying of its staves on its own wood yard for 24 to 36 months.
Our staves are selected by origin and conditioned in separate batches. The implementation of this traceability system allows us to certify the origin of our wood and thus maintain our quality policy at the highest level.

Environmental Responsibility
Concerned with quality and the environment, the company sources only PEFC-certified wood, thus guaranteeing the balance of wood resources within the framework of the "sustainable forest management" process, as well as the quality of supply.
It ensures that each phase of its production adheres to sustainable practices, reduces its carbon footprint, and transforms its waste into useful resources, fully aligning with an environmental responsibility approach.

What is the influence of oak grain on my wine?
The oak grain influences the speed and intensity with which aromas and tannins diffuse into the wine:
Can I order a single barrel?
Yes, we accept orders for a single barrel. Each cask is custom-made and handcrafted, allowing you to receive the product you exactly need.
Can I reuse my barrels for multiple aging processes?
Yes, a barrel can be reused multiple times, but its impact on the wine evolves with each use. During the first aging, the wood imparts the maximum amount of aromas and tannins. Subsequent wines will benefit from a more subtle influence, ideal for lighter wines or blends. In practice, the duration and nature of the first wine's aging often determine how many times the barrel can be reused before losing its aromatic characteristics.
